Monografie tak pojednává o právních aspektech těchto fondů. V současné době existují v EU tři hlavní fondy/mechanismy finanční asistence, a to EFSM, EFSF a ESM, které byly vytvořeny v reakci na krizi veřejných financí, resp. platební bilance v eurozóně. V rámci výzkumu, jehož je monografie výstupem, byly použity zejména metody analýzy a komparace, kdy každý z fondů byl analyzován co do okolností vzniku, právní povahy, vnitřní struktury a podmínek, za nichž může dojít k poskytnutí finanční asistence.
